This is Norman Saunderson, My mother's youngest brother. This was taken during World War II. My Uncle Norman, not being a citizen of the U.S., it was harder to join the U.S. Navy. He joined the Canadian Navy instead, and served on a destroyer type ship called a "Corvette", in the North Atlantic. His ship was involved in protecting the shipping lanes against submarines in what was to become known as the "Murmansk Run". This was designated as a dangerous route near Russia, because of the U-boat activity. It was necessary mission for re-supplying the Allied Forces.
